TIGER WOODS is predicting a dramatic return for LIV golfers to the PGA Tour within months – after Donald Trump stepped in.
The President has intervened in talks following slow progress between the two organisations over unifying the sport.
Woods believes Trump’s involvement has transformed the situation from awkward to “very positive” – with “quick healing” to come.
Golf descended into disharmony after the Saudi-backed LIV Tour was set up in June 2022, splashing out huge sums to lure big names.
Attempts have since been made to patch up disagreements and bring the sport back together.
And in the summer of 2023 the PGA Tour signed a framework agreement with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.
But discussions have been slow.
In contrast, Trump has previously insisted he could solve golf’s problems within 15 minutes.
And earlier in February he met Trump met PGA Tour board member Adam Scott as well as its commissioner Jay Monahan at the White House.
Woods, a 125-time Major winner told CBS: “I think we’re in a very positive place right now. We had a meeting with the president.
“Unfortunately, I had some other circumstances that came up, but Jay and Adam, they did great during the meeting and we have another subsequent meeting coming up.
“I think that things are going to heal quickly. We’re going to get this game going in the right direction.
“It’s been heading in the wrong direction for a number of years. The fans want all the top players playing together and we’re going to make that happen.”
The key could be Trump’s possible influence on the US Department of Justice, which monitors deals between American groups and Saudi Arabia.
World rankings out on Monday show that Bryson DeChambeau, at 13th, is now the only LIV player in the top 15.
And fellow LIV star Jon Rahm has dropped out of the leading 50 for the first time in eight years.
Scottie Scheffler remains top, ahead of Xander Schauffele and third-placed Rory McIlroy.
Meanwhile, Woods has also paid tribute to his mother Kultida, who died earlier this month.
The 49-year-old said: “Mom was my rock. Tough process to go through but I’ve had amazing family support.
“The amount of texts and emails and nice messages of support I got has really helped and has really meant a lot to me.”
