DENVER (KDVR) -- Denver is dry on Monday morning, but snow and icy roads are causing backups and road closures in the mountains.
Two Pinpoint Weather Alert Days have been issued on Monday and Tuesday due to potentially slick morning commutes in Denver and more mountain snow.
While Denver is cold on Monday morning, the city is dry. The impacts can mainly be seen in the high country as snow continues to fall and winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories are in effect through Tuesday morning with 6-15 inches expected in those areas.
Road conditions, closures on Monday morning
Here's what the roads look like Monday morning:
Parts of Interstate 70 closed for safety concerns
The Colorado Department of Transportation said there's a safety closure at Exit 205/Silverthorne due to adverse conditions and multiple slide-offs.
Just before 7 a.m., I-70 westbound was closed between U.S. 40; Empire Junction and Exit 228: Colorado Road 381; Georgetown with almost a 30-minute traffic delay. That part of the roadway has since reopened.

Parts of US 6 closed
U.S. 6 at the base of the foothills is clear, but COtrip said it was wet with some icy spots. Into the mountains, U.S. 6 has snowpacked spots and parts of the road are closed.
US 6 MP 216.60 EB at Montezuma Rd in Keystone LiveView: Looking East (CDOT)COtrip said U.S. 6 is closed between mile point 222 and I-70; Loveland Pass (3 to 10 miles east of Keystone) from Mile Point 222 to Mile Point 229 for safety concerns. Hazmat vehicles at the Eisenhower Tunnel will run at the top of the hour.
US 40 reopened after snowy conditions
Parts of U.S. 40 were closed due to the road conditions. Just before 7 a.m., the roadway between Cooper Creek Way and Henderson Mine Road (Winter Park) reopened to traffic. That said, the roads are still snowy with little lane visibility.

Icy spots on US 85
Meanwhile, Denver roads also have icy areas, but there's less of an impact.
US 85 MP 205.30 NB at W Union Ave (CDOT)CDOT said there are icy spots heading into Denver on Santa Fe Drive between Meadows Parkway and Interstate 76. COtrip said there's a chance of light snow and rain with wind gusts up to 13 mph.

COtrip said drivers should expect moderate to heavy snowfall in the central and northern mountains with hazardous travel, closures and heavy blowing snow and wind gusts near 45 mph in areas like Rabbit Ears Pass, Vail, Cameron Pass and Berthoud Pass.
The commute in and out of Denver will be less snowy, but there still could be ice. If you plan on leaving the house on Monday and Tuesday, be sure to check the latest forecast and the road conditions.
