Patrick Schwarzenegger is counting his blessings.
The 31-year-old actor, who plays the handsome but arrogant Saxon Ratliff in the third season of The White Lotus, looked back on the moment he told his family the exciting news that he was cast.
“This is the moment I found out I booked White Lotus,” Patrick, the son of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, captioned an Instagram post he shared on Sunday, Feb. 16, the same day the third season premiered.
“At first, I was told I had to keep It a secret, but my family kept noticing me acting weird. Maria thought Abby and I were pregnant,” he continued, referring to his mother surmising he and his fiancée, model Abby Champion, were expecting.

“She might have been happier than I was!! And then I started crying. She did. Katheine [sic] did. Was a domino effect. Mind you this was in a restaurant with other people lol,” he wrote. “My whole family are huge fans of the show, and would always mess with me saying I needed to find a way to get onto this show.
“Anyways it’s a special moment when you get to celebrate with people you love. It was one of those dream come true moments for me,” he continued. “I’m so thankful to Mike White & David Bernad & casting director [Meredith] Tucker for taking the chance on me.I hope you all enjoy the show as much as we did. We put a lot of hard work into making It. I’m only a small piece of the pie, and the other actors and actresses on the show are truly brilliant people & actors. Was a masterclass getting to learn from them.”

In the sweet video, Patrick shares the exciting news with his family, resulting in screams, laughs, tears and lots of hugs.
His sister Katherine Schwarzenegger also shared the moment on her social media account, captioning the post, “The moment he told us he got the part! Happy tears !!! So proud of you Patrick, tune in to White Lotus Season 3 tonight!”
In the comments section of her post, many said that the special moment made them cry. "Omg!! I got teary eyed… famous or not … I relate to this reaction," one user wrote.

While it’s currently unclear if he was using a prosthetic or not for the scene, Patrick has admitted to being nervous about sitting through the episode with his parents.
"There are some uncomfortable conversations between us in the bed that are a little weird to show in front of your family," he said at a recent press roundtable, referring to the final scene in the premiere between Saxon and his little brother, Lachlan (Sam Nivola).
The White Lotus airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and HBO Max.
