Two-alarm warehouse fire in Oakland extinguished

OAKLAND — A two-alarm fire ripped through a warehouse late Saturday, fire officials said.

The blaze in the 1000 block of 40th Avenue, near the intersection of 40th Avenue and San Leandro Street, stayed inside the warehouse and crews fought it defensively, according to social media updates from the Oakland Fire Department. It started about 11 p.m.

    Hose lines and ladder pipes were used from all sides of the blaze to help put it out. No injuries were reported.

    Crews had the blaze under control at about 11:25 p.m., officials said. Traffic in the area was stopped while firefighters extinguished the blaze.

    The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
