Already on the men’s NCAA tournament bubble, according to ESPN’s Bracketology, Arkansas and first-year head coach John Calipari can ill afford any major missteps over the next few weeks. That’s what made a close 69-61 loss to No. 8 Texas A&M on Saturday so disappointing.
The Razorbacks hung around with one of the best teams in the country for most of the game before the Aggies eventually pulled away late in the second half.
Given the quality of the competition, you wouldn’t think Calipari would be that upset about the loss. But given the time of year and where his team stands with a potential tournament berth (or being left out altogether), the coach couldn’t help but go on an exasperated rant after the game.
Calipari went as far as to say that he didn’t want to be too hard on his players because some of them were a “little fragile.”
Oof, talk about a clear, passive-aggressive message:

At a certain point, Calipari should probably take more personal responsibility if he’s going to take these kinds of swipes at his team. He is the head coach, after all. Still, instances like this give you an inkling of where Arkansas seemingly stands with Selection Sunday just about a month away.
