THE DAYTONA 500 has been forced to change start time as Donald Trump heads to watch the race.
The ‘Great American Race‘ will get underway for the 67th time in Florida.
But it will now start an hour earlier that first scheduled.
That is because a forecast for potential inclement weather, so the race will begin at 2pm ET, rather than 3pm ET.
It also means a change for the broadcaster, with Fox’s coverage of the event now set to begin at 1:30pm ET.
President Trump will be in attendance to watch the race for a second time, having previously visited in 2020.
Trump is a big fan of NASCAR and previously spoke of his admiration for the bravery and courage of the drivers.
But one driver who is not bothered by Trump showing up is Bubba Wallace, who reignited his feud with POTUS.
Trump and Wallace had a public feud back in 2020 over what the president called a “hoax.”
In 2020 at Talladega Superspeedway, a noose was found in Wallace’s driver stall.
Wallace is the only black driver in NASCAR, and the sport rallied around him in the moment.
Federal authorities later ruled that the noose had been hanging for months and that it was not a hate crime.
Because of this, Trump said Wallace should apologize for the “hoax.”
He said in 2020: “Has @BubbaWallaceapologized to all of those great NASCAR drivers & officials who came to his aid, stood by his side, & were willing to sacrifice everything for him, only to find out that the whole thing was just another HOAX?.
Wallace was quick to fire back against Trump’s message at the time.
“Always deal with the hate being thrown at you with LOVE!” he wrote.
“Love should come naturally as people are TAUGHT to hate. Even when it’s HATE from the POTUS.”
Wallace is not fussed Trump will be back at Daytona, suggesting the race is all that matters.
He said: “Couldn’t care less.
“We’re here to race. Not for the show.”
