DENVER (KDVR) -- Authorities responded to an area in Boulder Canyon Saturday for an unattended death and battled winter weather to reach the body.
Among many road closures across Colorado on Saturday, Colorado Highway 119 Boulder Canyon Drive was closed in both directions from Nederland to Boulder. The road has since reopened.
A spokesperson for the Boulder County Sheriff's Office told FOX31 that crews responded to the area of the 40-mile marker for the unattended death.
At about 10:41 a.m. crews reached and recovered the body, the sheriff's office announced in a press release on Saturday
The sheriff's office said the body recovered was a woman who matched the description of the University of Colorado Boulder student who was reported missing last Sunday to campus police.
The spokesperson said that the body was located in a hard-to-reach area, requiring rappelling to reach the body.
The Boulder County Coroner's Office and the Boulder County Sheriff's Office are investigating the incident jointly to determine the identity of the person and the cause of death.
