The Jacksonville Jaguars announced they’ve completed an interview with Ian Cunningham for their general manager opening.

Cunningham has been the Chicago Bears’ assistant GM for the last three seasons and is considered one of the fast-rising candidates in the league-wide general manager ranks.
Beyond the Jaguars, Cunningham has already interviewed for a few other GM openings, which includes being a finalist for the Tennessee job both in 2023 and in 2025.
Cunningham was also a finalist for the Washington Commanders job that went to Adam Peters, and he reportedly turned down the Arizona job back in 2023.
Cunningham got his start working in the Baltimore organization under Ozzie Newsome as a college scout. He was then apart of Philadelphia’s Super Bowl win in 2017, continually rising up the ranks in each organization before landing in Chicago, as NFL insider Albert Breer noted.
Several weeks ago, before the Jaguars even began interviewing for this role, ESPN’s Adam Schefter mentioned Cunningham as a name to watch:
“Here’s a name that we need to have on our radar, I’m not saying he gets the job, but I will say that he’s going to be in contention for the job, the Bears’ assistant general manager Ian Cunningham,” said Schefter.
“He’s going to be a candidate for that Jaguars GM job. Some would say he might be the leading candidate for the Jaguars’ GM job. I don’t know if he’s the leading guy or a guy, but he’s certainly going to be in the mix and a candidate to become the next general manager of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Watch that name, Ian Cunningham, his time is coming.”
Cunningham is now the ninth candidate to interview for the Jaguars’ GM role. For more on the other candidates, click here.
It’s been reported by Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports that the Jaguars hope to have the GM job filled by the end of next week.
