Going out to eat on Valentine’s Day is a classic way to celebrate, but it often comes with long wait times, crowded restaurants and expensive prix fixe menus. While a fancy dinner out can be enjoyable, sometimes the most romantic and meaningful moments happen right at home. Cooking together allows for a more intimate, stress-free experience where you can focus on each other rather than compete with a noisy dining room.
A homemade Valentine’s Day meal doesn’t have to be complicated to feel special. In fact, embracing a holiday theme can make it even more fun. Think heart-shaped foods, like pancakes or cakes. A classic steak dinner with a rich red wine sauce, roasted vegetables and a decadent chocolate dessert sets a romantic mood without requiring a reservation. Even simple dishes, like a comforting bowl of pasta with a creamy sauce and garlic bread, can feel luxurious when paired with candlelight and good company.
For a hands-on, interactive experience, consider making something together, like this super cute idea shared by content creator and mom blogger Trina H (@coffeeandconfettimom).

Trina showed how to make "Viral pizza roses shaped into a heart" on Instagram and it's too cute!
"Can you really go wrong with these?? Perfect for a special family meal on Valentine’s Day!" she wrote in the caption.
To make this pizza, she rolled out pizza dough and cut it into strips. (She used Jus-Roll brand, which comes in a rectangular shape on a piece of parchment, which is easier than dealing with a ball of pizza dough.) Then, she put pizza sauce and shredded cheese on one side, all the way down the center. She seasoned it and then arranged pepperoni slices along the edge of the pastry strip. Half of the pepperoni needs to be on the pastry, half hanging off, and the slices should overlap like shingles.
Once the pepperoni is in place, she rolls the strip of pastry and the pepperoni makes it look like a rose. She places this in a greased heart-shaped pan.
She repeats the process until she has enough "roses" to fill the pan. The pastry should touch so that it will come together as it bakes and rises. Once she has all her "roses" in the pan, she tops it with more cheese and bakes. When it is golden brown, she removes it from the pan and brushes the entire pizza with garlic butter.

This Is a Perfect Valentine's Pizza
This is the perfect Valentine's pizza, especially for families who want to celebrate together. It's easy to customize with whatever meats and cheeses you like. I think a salami pizza with mozzarella and truffle oil would be amazing and feel so decadent for a Valentine's dinner!
It's also a fun pizza to make with kids—each person can make their own "rose" or two and when it's done, you simply pull the "rose" pieces apart and dip them in marinara or Ranch dressing. Each person gets their own piece or pieces and the presentation is much cuter than a triangle slice.
