Stabbing, shooting, and standoff lead to two hospitalized in violent Morganton incident

MORGANTON, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – Two people have been hospitalized following a stabbing and shooting incident at a Morganton home Wednesday morning, police said.

The ordeal began around 8:15 a.m. when Morganton officers responded to a home along Causby Road for reports of a stabbing.

A family member called Burke County Communications 911, stating they had been stabbed multiple times and that gunshots had been fired.

As officers arrived at the home, they heard multiple gunshots from the road. Morganton Police said the family member who called 911 was able to safely get out of the house and meet with law enforcement outside.

Authorities said the situation ‘escalated’ when the homeowner refused to communicate with officers or come out of the residence.

A woman who was also involved in this incident was found at a nearby home, police said. She was also taken to a healthcare facility for treatment of her injuries.

This case remains under active investigation.
