AJ Brown keeps promise, visits young Eagles fan injured in Philly plane crash

AJ Brown and the Philadelphia Eagles are Super Bowl 59 champions, taking down the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 on Sunday in New Orleans.

The Eagles will hold their title parade on Friday, but first Brown, the former Ole Miss star, had a promise to keep.

On Wednesday, Brown visited 10-year-old Trey Howard in the hospital. Howard is a hero in Philadelphia after a plane crash that killed 7 people on January 31. Howard and his family were out getting donuts when the plane crashed. Trey protected his younger sister from debris, but in the process, he was hit by a piece of flying metal and required emergency brain surgery.

Brown promised to visit the young hero after the Super Bowl. He kept that promise on Wednesday, as you can see from the social media post below. And he brought some hardware with him in the form of the Lombardi Trophy:

Here’s Brown’s initial response on social media, saying the Eagles were playing for Trey on Sunday:

Speedy recovery! You are a Hero young man! I’m going to come see you when I get back. Hopefully with some hardware. Playing for you on Sunday my man ???? t.co/pUtf2Zsoh2

In case you’re unfamiliar with Trey Howard’s story, here’s an excerpt about what Trey said to his dad when he woke up from surgery (via 6abc.com):

He asked me, ‘Daddy, what’s today?’ I was like, ‘Monday.’ ‘OK, wait. We didn’t play yesterday did we?’ ‘No, you didn’t miss the Super Bowl,'” Andre said, describing his son as a die-hard Eagles fan.

He was also concerned for his little sister.

“It had me crying,” Andre said, recalling when Trey asked, “Daddy, did I save my sister?”

“‘You told us to get down. I was just trying to help my sister.. next thing I know, I thought I died,'” Andre said his son told him in the hospital.

Former Kentucky basketball star Tyrese Maxey (now of the Philadelphia 76ers) visited Trey in the hospital last week, as well.
