A new candidate has emerged for the Jacksonville Jaguars general manager opening.
According to FOX NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Jaguars will be interviewing former Tennessee Titans’ general manager Jon Robinson.
Of the nearly 10 candidates that the Jaguars are reportedly interviewing for this role, Robinson is the only one with general manager experience. He also interviewed earlier this offseason with the New York Jets.
Things seemed to be trending in this direction between the Jaguars and Robinson.
A recent report from Josina Anderson said that the Jaguars had “expressed interest” in interviewing a former NFL general manager–although Anderson did not mention who that was.
You connect that report with what Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer said a few weeks ago, when he mentioned Robinson as a potential candidate, and one could connect the dots that this was who the Jaguars had some level of interest in.
“I think if you want a guy who knows the division, who understands the dynamics of a market like Jacksonville, who’s really strong on the college side and has a good track record of setting up a department and leading, I think Jon Robinson would be a strong candidate. I think he will be in the mix for the job,” Breer said.
Robinson was the Titans’ GM from 2016 through most of the 2022 season before being fired. The Titans had a record of 66-48 during that stretch. They made the playoffs four times and reached the AFC Championship Game once.
In a recent interview with 1010XL, Jaguars’ Executive Vice President Tony Boselli recently highlighted the three big things that the Jaguars are looking for in their next general manager.
Below are the other list of candidates who will be interviewing. According to CBS Sports Jonathan Jones, the Jaguars will potentially make a decision as soon as next week before the NFL combine.
– Ian Cunningham, Bears assistant GM
– Chad Alexander, Chargers assistant GM
– Ethan Waugh, Jaguars assistant GM
– Trey Brown, Bengals senior personnel executive
– Brandon Brown, Giants assistant GM
