Dollar General apologizes after shopper begs for store ‘improvements’ as self-checkout had ‘numerous people’ waiting

A CUSTOMER at Dollar General has aired their grievances with their local store.

The store was understocked and understaffed.

The customer was left waiting in line with no one at checkout to help customers

A shopper in Cleburne, Texas complained on X that their local Dollar General was untidy and short-staffed, prompting a response from the company.

Kirt Forsythe, username @ForsytheKirt on X, published a politely-worded criticism of the state of his local store.

“Just informing you that your store in Cleburne, TX off of hwy 4 needs improvements,” said Forsythe.

“There are always items that need to be stocked in the aisle and no one ever at the register.”

Forsythe went on to give an account of a frustrating experience in the store, which left customers waiting at an empty checkout.

“There were numerous people behind me when the cashier left to help a customer.”

The company’s official X account promptly responded with an apology, and promised to look into the matter.

“We’re sorry for any negative experience, Kirt,” a Dollar General representative named Autumn replied.

“Please know that your feedback will be shared with the appropriate members of our team.”

The Dollar General location in Cleburne currently has a one-star rating on Yelp.

One reviewer complained that employees were smoking on the clock and gossiping at the register.

“They were rude and very unprofessional,” the customer complained.

“If I could give less than one star, I would.”

“Most of the items that are not on the shelves are in the aisle on racks,” wrote another.

“The staff isn’t very friendly. There is always just one cash register open.”

Since pandemic restrictions were lifted, the retail industry has seen a massive labor shortage that big chains are still yet to recover from.

With retail being one of the largest industries in the country, many stores are struggling with understaffing.
