SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- The official NBA All-Star 2025 tip-off party, which was set to take place Thursday at Thrive City has been canceled due to weather. The event was due to take place between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. Thursday with Thrive City activating an entertainment zone that would've permitted retailers to sell alcoholic beverages to-go within the zone.
The Golden State Warriors vs. Houston Rockets game was going to be streamed outdoors for the event, and Warriors legend Rick Barry was due to make an appearance. Bay Area singer-songwriter P-Lo was also set to appear.
However, on Tuesday event organizers canceled the event "due to forecasts of heavy rain."
"Guests are encouraged to watch the Warriors vs. Rockets game indoors at one of Thrive City's retailers," event organizers said. Despite the cancellation, additional NBA All-Star events are set to take place throughout the weekend at locations that include Chase Center, Moscone Convention Center, Oakland Arena and Pier 48.
A powerful atmospheric river storm is set to arrive in the Bay Area overnight Wednesday into Thursday. Parts of the Bay Area could receive up to 4 inches of rain, according to the National Weather Service.
