Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy praises veteran teammate after Super Bowl LIX: Might be his last game

Kansas City Chiefs rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy finished the 2024 season and playoffs as a top target on the team. He shared his success with his teammates in the receivers’ room during his Super Bowl LIX postgame press conference.

“I just want to thank the guys in my room. This might be my last time playing with some of them, and D-Hop (DeAndre Hopkins) might be his last game. Trades happen.” said Worthy. “So, one thing that really helped me a lot in my development as a man and a player in this league. The knowledge they gave me to learn and keep building my rookie year, I just really appreciate it.”

Worthy led the Chiefs in last Sunday’s loss, catching eight passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns, setting rookie records in the process. He continued to express appreciation to his veteran star teammates for believing in his abilities.

“I gotta give all credit to my guys in the room, even Trav (Travis Kelce) and Pat (Patrick Mahomes),” said Worthy. “Pat for believing in me just putting the ball up and throwing them; trust me to go out there and make a play.”

Kelce has consistently praised Worthy’s work ethic, while Mahomes has increased his targets to the former Texas Longhorn throughout the second half of the season. Hopkins hasn’t announced his future but played a significant role in Worthy’s success during his stay in Kansas City.
