TRAVIS Kelce was helpless to save Taylor Swift from a chorus of boos during the Super Bowl.
Before the Philadelphia Eagles took down the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, Swift was devastated by Eagles fans.
Swift’s reaction to the boos was broadcasted around the stadium on the jumbotron.
She could be seen turning to a friend and mouthing “what’s going on?”
Even President Donald Trump took a dig at Swift, saying she had a “tougher night than the Chiefs.”
Kelce was down on the field focused on the game, but he was still aware of what was going on in the stands.
“Travis was aware of Taylor getting booed and he felt helpless. Seeing the look on her face got to him,” a source told DailyMail.
“He always protects her and it broke his heart. He was already having a tough night and the fact that the stadium was predominantly Eagles fans didn’t help.
“Travis knows that this hurt her and anyone can see this.
“It’s clear to many that the Eagles fans feel she is a traitor of sorts – being from Pennsylvania and even wearing Eagles gear prior to dating him.
“Travis believes that it was unnecessary for Trump to take a dig at her especially after he voiced that he was honored for a president to be there.
“After Taylor being shut out for a Grammy and Travis losing the biggest game of the year it just hasn’t been a good week for them.
“But he knows that even though this is not a happy ending to the season having her love gives him so much joy.”
It was apparent early in the night that Caesars Superdome was overwhelmed with more Eagles fans than Chiefs fans.
Swift gave a side eye to the camera and an awkward grin during the boos.
Those boos were just the start of an awful night for the Chiefs though, as they were dominated 40-22 to lose the Super Bowl.
Swift had some defenders outside of Kelce though, with Serena Williams shouting her out from the crowd.
“I love you @taylorswift13 dont listen to those booo!!” she posted.
Swift was seen on and off throughout the game, sitting front row in her VIP suite.
Fox showed her much less on the broadcast than during last year’s Super Bowl though.
In the end, it wasn’t the shining moment and historic threepeat that Kelce and Swift likely hoped for.
The tight end now faces a tough offseason where he will have to consider retirement.
