Following Super Bowl 59, the Jacksonville Jaguars made a series of seven roster moves on Monday.
The Jaguars announced that they’ve signed seven players to reserve/futures contracts for the 2025 season.
So, the big question, perhaps, is what is a reserve/futures contract?
Reserves/futures deals are given to players who are not on the 53-man roster and prevents those players from negotiating and signing with another team.
Teams can go outside of the organization to sign players who are not currently tied to a team in any capacity, but often than not, these additions will be practice squad players from the previous season that will be signed to these types of deals.
Below are the players who Jacksonville signed to these reserve/futures contracts:
TE Shawn Bowman CB Christian Braswell WR Joshua Cephus OL Dennis Daley OL Dieter Eiselen CB Zech McPhearson WR Austin Trammell
All seven of these players were on the Jaguars’ practice squad or appeared in games at various points during the 2024 NFL season.
