Anthony Davis’s long injury history cropped up yet again on Saturday afternoon during the former Kentucky star’s debut with the Dallas Mavericks when the perennial NBA All-Star suffered an injury in his groin/quad area.
Davis piled up a great stat line, as he so often does, in the Mavericks’ eventual 116-105 home victory over the Houston Rockets. But unfortunately, as he so often does, Davis suffered an injury along with it. He had 26 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists, leading his new team in all 3 categories in his very first game with the Mavs. Davis played 31 minutes, but he would’ve played more had the injury not occurred.
Despite having to leave his much-anticipated debut in the third quarter, Davis wasn’t overly worried about the long-term effects of the injury.
“Leg got tight, like a little spasm. I came back and tried to get it loose, obviously dealing with the ab strain. Just tried to get it loose. It wouldn’t loosen up and let go. It’s nothing serious. I’m fine,” assured Davis after the victory.

When Davis suffered the non-contact injury and had to go to the locker room, there was major concern going on and justifiably so, with his long injury history. But it appears that Davis might have escaped a long-term problem as Dallas fans got their very first taste of the future Hall of Fame big man.
