Having a good selection of dress pants is a must in any woman’s wardrobe. Whether you prefer trousers to skirts or you like having more options for work or special outings, nice pants are so versatile and, again, useful to own. And while you might want to splurge on other items of clothing, maybe trousers just aren’t in the budget. Lucky for you, Aldi is dropping a handful of Ponte pants this coming week that are so similar to designer styles that cost up to 25 times the price.
From Feb. 12 to Feb. 18, Aldi will be selling their Serra Ladies Ponte Pants for $12.99 in the Aldi Finds aisle of U.S. stores while supplies last. Three different styles and four colors of Ponte pants will be available and all of them have a thick waistband and what look like (hopefully real) pockets.

Aldi
The first style is wide-leg Ponte dress pants. This type of style should be fitted near the waist with a wider leg down. It comes in two colors: a grey, white and black plaid or houndstooth pattern and a “peacoat,” which looks like a navy (it’s called black on the site).

Then there’s a straight-leg Ponte pant, which has a similar construction to the wide-leg pants, just with a straight leg down (almost tapered). This one only comes in gray, which is a darker, almost heather gray

And lastly, these Ponte pants also come in a black bootcut style, which means they’re straight and then slightly let out at the knees to fit over boots on the bottom. These are a solid black color with a seam down the front of each leg. These are the only ones with belt looks as well.
As for why they’re called Ponte pants, “Ponte” is the name of a type of fabric, which is “similar to thick jersey” material. Ponte can be made with different fabrics, but typically you see a blend of materials that can include cotton, nylon, spandex, polyester and more. While we don’t have the exact breakdown for the Aldi pants, you can expect a stretchy, thicker material.
The Tinsley Wide-Leg Trouser - Knit Suiting, $325 at M.M.LaFleur
M.M.LaFleur
As we mentioned before, these Aldi Ponte pants are similar to other designer brands out there, including M.M.LaFleur’s The Tinsley Wide-Leg Trouser - Knit Suiting, which is currently $325. While these aren’t Ponte material, the wide-leg trouser style is very similar to the plaid Aldi pants (even down to the pattern).
Stephanie Wide Leg Ponte Pants, $165 at Universal Standard
Universal Standard
There are also Universal Standard’s Stephanie Wide Leg Ponte Pants, which are $165. We can directly compare these to Aldi’s pants because they’re both Ponte pants and these come in “Storm Houndstooth” which is a darker version of Aldi’s plaid pattern. The wide-leg style is also very similar, down to the elastic waistband.
Kate Straight-Leg Pant in Four-Season Stretch, $99.50 (originally $118) at J.Crew
J.Crew
And lastly, there is J.Crew’s Kate Straight-Leg Pant in Four-Season Stretch, which is currently $99.50 (it was originally $118). These have a very similar, thick waistband, angled pockets and straight-leg silhouette to Aldi’s straight-leg gray Ponte pants. J.Crew’s pants have a chic pleat down the front of each leg, but other than that they seem like they’d fit very similarly.
Considering the price and variety of Aldi’s Serra Ladies Ponte Pants, they seem worth checking out. Especially if you’re in the market for nice pants or trousers to wear to the office or brunch.
