TYREEK HILL has issued a groveling apology to his teammates after announcing he wanted to quit the Miami Dolphins.
In January, the wide receiver took himself out of the Dolphins 32-20 loss to the New York Jets early – failing to play the whole game.
In footage broadcast on Fox and subsequently posted to social media, Jaylen Waddle can be heard speaking to Hill.
Addressing his teammate by his nickname, Waddle said, “Hey Cheetah, you done?”
Amazingly Hill’s response can’t be heard… due to the Curb Your Enthusiasm theme playing over the stadium speakers.
“This is my first time I haven’t been in the playoffs,” Hill later said. “I just got to do what’s best for me and my family.
“If that’s here or wherever the case may be. I’m finna open that door for myself. As I’m opening the door, I’m out bro.
“It was a great playing here but, at the end of the day, I got to do what’s best for my career.
“I’m too much of a competitor to be, you know, just out there.”
Hill has been a Dolphin since 2022 – joining from Kansas where he won the Super Bowl in 2020.
And in a dramatic U-turn, the 30-year-old committed his future to the Dolphins during an interview with FanDuel TV’s Up & Adams.
“I don’t want to go nowhere,” he told Kay Adams. “I love it.
“My family loves it. Kids absolutely love being on the beach every morning. So it’s an amazing thing, man.
“We are really building something special in Miami. We made it to the playoffs the first two years.
“Obviously, this year was hard, but if guys continue to buy into what coach (Mike McDaniel) is building and the culture that he’s trying to build, it’s going to be a beautiful thing, man.”
Hill is not worried about his actions being misinterpreted by his teammates.
“They know I’m not that type of player, though,” he said.
“A lot of people may say, ‘Reek is a hothead. He’s this. He’s that.’ But all my teammates know.”
Hill also publicly apologized to quarterback Tua Tagovailoa for his trade request.
“Tua, he’s my guy, always will be my guy, no matter what,” he said. “I’m sure he understands my frustration. We all want to win.
“Tua, he’s another competitor. He’s a hell of a competitor. A lot of people don’t know that. He’s a winner. He’s consistent.
“So I’m looking forward just to us continuing to build our relationship even more, and this is my public apology.
“This is my public apology to you, Tua. Love you, bro.”
