No threat found after report of armed person outside Sky Vista Middle School

DENVER (KDVR) -- Deputies found no threat after searching near Sky Vista Middle School Friday afternoon after a student reported seeing a person with a gun on school grounds.

A spokesperson for the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office told FOX31 that at 1:23 p.m., a student reported seeing someone with a gun on the track at the school, which is located in the 4500 block of S. Himalaya Street.

    The sheriff's office said the school resource officer called for a lockdown at the school as deputies searched for the person.

    A spokesperson for Cherry Creek Schools said Thunder Ridge Middle School and Eaglecrest High School were also on secure perimeter status but that has since been lifted.

    Soon, the sheriff's office said the information was well over an hour old. Deputies still searched the area and the sheriff's office said they found no threat.

    A spokesperson for the school district told FOX31 that the search was complete and the scene was clear around 2:30 p.m.
