New Trailer: Scarlett Johansson faces off against dinosaurs in ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ trailer

The recently released trailer for "Jurassic World Rebirth" marks an intriguing continuation of the iconic franchise, prominently featuring Scarlett Johansson in the role of Zora Bennett, a covert ops expert. Set five years after "Jurassic World Dominion," the film explores a narrative that intertwines themes of genetic manipulation and survival against prehistoric adversaries . The plot centers around a mission to retrieve dinosaur DNA from an abandoned research facility linked to the original Jurassic Park, inviting both nostalgia and tension as characters navigate this perilous landscape.

Starring Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali, the movie — directed by Gareth Edwards — picks up five years after the last installment, “Jurassic World Dominion,” which was toplined by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. The previous movie also featured the series’ original stars, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill.

In a short clip released by Universal Pictures on Tuesday, Johansson and Bailey stare at an unseen creature — only a dinosaur’s tail was teased in the brief video that was marked with the tagline, “Something is coming.” The full trailer, which dropped Wednesday morning, offered a better look at the daunting creatures.

The scene is a nostalgic nod to the original Jurassic Park, where Dr. Alan Grant and his team first encountered the Brachiosaurus. However, the Titanosaur is no Brachiosaurus. With its unique spine running along its neck and lower back, as well as its long, slender tail, this dinosaur stands out as a new and imposing addition to the franchise.

The Titanosaur plays a central role in the story, representing the largest land dinosaur in the film. Its appearance isn’t just for visual impact; it’s precisely tied to the plot, emphasizing the scale and importance of the expedition.

The trailer showcases not only Johansson's character but also highlights her collaboration with Jonathan Bailey's Dr. Henry Loomis as they confront various dinosaurs, including genetically modified species . The stakes are particularly high as they aim to procure genetic material from the three largest dinosaurs to develop a life-saving drug. This quest is further complicated by encounters with dangerous aquatic dinosaurs that pose immediate threats to their safety. Such elements underscore the film's emphasis on both action and ethical dilemmas surrounding genetic engineering Ultimately, "Jurassic World Rebirth" promises not only excitement but also an opportunity for critical reflection on our interactions with genetically engineered life forms.
