PATRICK Mahomes has spoken out over claims the Kansas City Chiefs have become the villains of the NFL.
The superstar quarterback is hunting a historic Super Bowl three-peat this Sunday, a first in league history.
He will lead his team out at the Caesars Superdome against the Philadelphia Eagles.
There has been claims and wild conspiracy theories the NFL is “rigged” for the Chiefs to win.
Andy Reid‘s team have had a number of questionable calls over the last few years by referees.
But Mahomes has reiterated his AFC West champions are just focused on winning games.
The 29-year-old also told the media they don’t mind being the villains – if it means they keep winning.
“I don’t even think it’s embracing being the villains. We embrace who we are, ” said Mahomes.
“We believe we play the game the right way.
“We believe we play with a lot of heart and a lot of passion for the game.
“And we win football games.
“If winning football games makes you a villain, we’re going to keep going out there and doing it.”
Mahomes was repeating this year what he said last regarding the villain title.
“I just like winning,” he said last year at Super Bowl LVIII.
“If you win a lot and that causes you to be the villain, I’m okay with it.”
Meanwhile, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was asked about the Chiefs “rigged” conspiracies on Monday.
They head into their fifth Super Bowl in six years on Sunday.
And many fans have questioned about the legitimacy of their success at times.
“This reminds me a little bit of the script – that I write a script for the entire season, right?’ he said.
“A lot of those theories that are things that happen on social media and they get a lot of life.
“I think it reflects a lot of the fans’ passion.
“And it’s also a reminder for us how important officiating is.
“I I think the men and women that officiate in the NFL are outstanding.
“They have the highest possible standards.”
