The fan needed medical attention as the opening tip was stopped due to the terrifying scene.

A video posted on X by local Memphis reporter Colin Cody displayed stadium workers administering CPR to the man who was lying on the ground.

Members of security came with a stretcher for the fan.

TV cameras also spotted the Grizzlies players and coaching staff gathered in a huddle and praying while the medical personnel helped the spectator.

Players were reportedly told to go to their respective locker rooms and the original 8:00 pm Eastern tip-off was moved to 8:50 pm.

It’s believed that the incident occurred minutes before tipoff and the fan was given treatment before being taken out of the arena on a stretcher after about seven minutes.

The Grizzlies players came back to the court at around 8:40 pm and both teams participated in warm-ups before the game began.

Memphis went on to claim the 128-109 victory and have a three-game winning streak.

They sit at No. 2 in the Western Conference with a 34-16 record.

After the game, Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins didn’t provide much details on the health situation of the fan, citing privacy matters, but said the organization is “hoping for the best.”

Former NBA player and now-sports agent Mike Miller, who was sitting near the fan, said he alerted authorities after he noticed the fan was ill.

“It was awful,” Miller said, per the AP. “He was sitting talking to people, then the national anthem happened, and he didn’t get up.”

Memphis star Ja Morant revealed that his teammate, GG Jackson, started the group prayer on the court.

“We had a great prayer led by GG,” Morant said. “Then we were back here hoping for the best.

    “Praying for the best.”

Spurs rookie Stephon Castle shared that the situation affected him as he returned from the locker room to play in the contest.

“My energy was kind of shifted by it a little bit,” said Castle, who started at forward.

“I started the game real slow.

“My mind was all over the place.
