Lamont Butler has missed the last 2 games for Kentucky after suffering an injury in a 5-point loss to Vanderbilt on Jan. 25. There was hope that he might be back for the game against Ole Miss, but that won’t be the case as he is listed as out on the injury report.
Butler when healthy has been a vital part of what makes the Kentucky offense so tough to stop. He is averaging 13.2 PPG, 4.8 APG and 1.8 SPG on the season. He leads the team in assists and steals, and is 3rd on the team in points.
The first game Butler missed was against Tennessee, and Pope left an ominous message about Butler’s status moving forward after that game.
“If and when we get him back, we’re gonna be elated,” he told reporters after the win against Tennessee. “We certainly need him. And in the meantime, guys are gonna step up and compete and fight.”
Generally, teams will try and keep someone as questionable and give them as much time as possible to get a player back on the court. The fact he is already listed as out for Tuesday’s game indicates Butler may still be a ways from coming back for Kentucky.
