POLICE REPORTS

The following were compiled from reports prepared by the Ukiah Police Department. To anonymously report crime information, call 707-463-6205.

MAN SLEEPING ON STAIRS: Caller in the 100 block of East Gobbi Street reported at 3:48 p.m. Jan. 30 that a man was sleeping on the stairs. An officer responded and reported that the person left before he arrived.

    CAMPERS NEAR BRIDGE: Caller in the 700 block of East Perkins Street reported at 3:59 p.m. Jan. 30 that people were camping near a bridge. An officer responded and reported not finding any campers, and that the caller was counseled.

    THEFT: Caller in the 500 block of East Perkins Street reported at 10:12 a.m. Feb. 1 that glass frames were stolen. An officer took a report of theft.

    DEATH: Caller in the 1000 block of South State Street requested a welfare check at 11:21 a.m. Feb. 1. An officer responded and took a report of a death.

    SHOPLIFTER: Caller at Kohl’s on North Orchard Avenue reported at 9:13 p.m. Feb. 1 that a theft had occurred. An officer took a report.

    ILLEGAL CAMPING: A caller in the 1100 block of Airport Park Boulevard reported suspicious circumstances at 7:18 a.m. Feb. 2. An officer responded and arrested a 39-year-old Ukiah resident for violating city camping codes and his probation. He was cited and released.

    SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: Caller in the 300 block of Cooper Lane reported at 5:28 p.m. Feb. 2 that someone was “trying door handles and ringing doorbells.” An officer responded and arrested a 41-year-old Ukiah man on suspicion of being drunk in public. He was booked into Mendocino County Jail.

    The following were compiled from reports prepared by the UPD  regarding calls handled by the Fort Bragg Police Department.

    BURGLARY: Caller in the 300 block of East Cypress Street reported at 12:25 a.m. Feb. 2 that a possible burglary was occurring. An officer responded and reported that the incident was a “fallen bucket.”

    BURGLARY: Caller in the 200 block of South Main Street reported a burglary at 11:17 a.m. Feb. 2. An officer responded and reported the incident was a civil issue.

    BURGLARY: Caller in the 800 block of East Oak Street reported at 1:36 p.m. Feb. 2 that a burglary was in process. An officer responded and reported that the incident was not as reported, and the person was advised of trespassing.

    Those arrested by law enforcement officers are innocent until proven guilty. People reported as having been arrested may contact the Daily Journal once their case has been concluded so the results can be reported. Those who feel the information is in error should contact the appropriate agency. In the case of those arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant, all DUI cases reported by law enforcement agencies are reported by the newspaper. The Daily Journal makes no exceptions.
