THE TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS have hit back at Liam Coen after his exit from the franchise.
Coen, 39, had spent the past year as the Buccaneers‘ offensive coordinator.
However, the Rhode Island tactician left Tampa for the Jacksonville Jaguars where he was appointed as head coach.
That left the Buccaneers’ head coach Todd Bowles and general manager Jason Licht “furious”.
And that led to Bowles and Licht blocking Coen’s plans with the Jaguars.
According to ESPN, the Buccaneers blocked multiple assistants from interviewing with Jacksonvile for jobs.
The Jaguars tried to interview Tampa Bay offensive line coach Kevin Carberry.
The same went for the club’s assistant offensive line coach Brian Picucci.
However, both attempts were blocked by the Buccaneers’ hierarchy.
Coen recently addressed the friction and insisted he has no quarrel with his former NFL employers.
He said: “And I want Jason to be good with it.
“I love Jason. Those guys gave me an opp! I’ll never forget that.
“But time heals. Time heals. We’ll be all right.”
