SHOPPERS are concerned after JCPenney shut down several locations.
Consumers on Facebook shared their worries.
The department store has left malls across the country, leaving some malls struggling to carry on.
CLOSING DOWN
A location in Charleston, West Virginia is slated to close in May, according to local outlet WSAZ.
One Facebook user shared the story.
He expressed worry for the future of the mall, Charleston Town Center, which is losing the store this spring.
“That’s it, all the anchor stores are gone,” he said.
Anchor stores are the large retailers in malls that draw in traffic.
Without them, smaller retailers inside malls often struggle to make money.
The Charleston Town Center mall previously lost a Macy’s.
The Facebook user added: “But is this the final coffin nail?”
Several people in his social network replied with their observations of the mall’s decline.
Currently, it does not appear that the mall has any plans to close down.
It’s not the only mall to lose its JCPenney.
