The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident early Wednesday in Redwood Valley, spokesman Capt. Quincy Cromer confirmed.
“There was a shooting incident in Redwood Valley on Ellen Lynn Road,” Cromer said, noting that “numerous Nixle alerts were sent to notify the community of the law enforcement activity in the area.”
The first alert was sent shortly after 5 a.m. Jan. 29 and urged “Situational Awareness” due to law enforcement being in the area of Ellen Lynn Street and Virginia Circle “investigating reports of a shooting in the area.”
At 7:26 a.m., the MCSO posted an update explaining that the “north portion of Ellen Lynn (Street) is blocked off,” and that there was “no threat to residents.”
Shortly before 11 a.m., the MCSO reported that the law enforcement activity had been “concluded and any restrictions have been lifted.”
When asked for more information regarding the incident, Cromer said his office would “try and publish a press release later (Wednesday) with the details we can release for this continuing investigation.”
