CBS made a major broadcasting blunder that got fans’ hopes up.
During the AFC Championship, Buffalo Bills fans were led to believe that their team had another chance at victory.
The Bills had one final drive during the AFC Championship to attempt to dethrone Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
That drive was as dramatic as they come, with Josh Allen scrambling around and firing off a prayer of a pass on the Bills’ final play.
The pass somehow found its way to tight end Dalton Kincaid, but he was unable to hold on to the ball.
However, the CBS broadcast flashed yellow to inform fans that there was a flag on the field.
Any flag on the Chiefs would give the Bills a second lease on life to continue driving to win the game.
Broadcaster Jim Nantz alerted fans to a flag being down on the field, but his partner Tony Romo quickly informed him that it was incorrect.
“I didn’t see a flag thrown there,” Romo said.
“I’m told there’s a flag,” Nantz replied.
Nantz later informed fans that there was “no flag” after some deliberation.
Mahomes and the Chiefs trotted back onto the field to ice the game after the flag saga, and Nantz took the time to remedy his wrong information.
“We had a report from the sideline that there had been a flag,” Nantz said.
“But there was no flag. There was no penalty at all.”
The no-flag was an awful tease for Bills fans who have yet to see Josh Allen get over the hump and into a Super Bowl.
“Because the Chiefs have yellow socks, shoes, and gloves sometimes. It’s VERY easy to think you saw a flag,” one fan said.
“Completely botched by CBS. No flag and no replay of the Kincaid drop until 4 plays later!” another fan said.

“It really was awful,” a third fan said.
“Once again the refs handed the Chiefs the game,” a fourth fan said.
“Romo is horrible and Nance is clueless,” a fifth fan said.
With the no-call, the Bills have once again come excruciatingly close to beating the Chiefs.
Allen is now 0-4 against Mahomes in his playoff career.
