Chrome users continue to face new security risks and they are being warned about the issues that could be dangerous for them.

The Indian govt is warning millions of Chrome users about the new risk.

Chrome is facing a new security risk that affects millions of users in India who use the web browser on their Windows or macOS system. The major risk alert has been issued by the Indian government this month via the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) with a high severity ranking which is never good news and will have people worried about their safety.

Chrome Security Issue: What Users Should Know

The security risk with Chrome has been detailed by the agency in its notes, “Multiple vulnerabilities exist in Google Chrome due to Object corruption in V8 and Out of bounds memory access in V8. A remote attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by executing a specially crafted webpage to conduct remote code execution or cause denial of service (DoS) condition on the targeted system.”

The security issues exist in some core components of the Chrome browser that are dangerous enough to let hackers exploit and make it easy for them to steal data from the systems that are running on the vulnerable Chrome versions.

Chrome Risk Versions

So, if you have been using Chrome on either Windows, macOS or a Linux machine, you need to make sure these versions of the browser are not running on your system:

– Chrome versions prior to 132.0.6834.110/111 for Windows and Mac

– Chrome versions prior to 132.0.6834.110 for Linux

If your system is running on Chrome versions before the ones mentioned here, we highly advise you to take this issue seriously and update the browser for your macOS, Windows or Linux machine right away. You can do this by heading over to the three-dot menu on Chrome – Settings – About – Update Chrome. Google has listed the security fixes that come with the stable channel update.
