Patrick Mahomes beats Travis Kelce to coveted top spot to earn millions despite Chiefs teammate’s Taylor Swift romance

PATRICK MAHOMES has topped yet another list.

The superstar quarterback is well on his way to building a billion-dollar empire as one of the most marketable and business savvy athletes in all of sports.

Mahomes is, somehow, not close to being the highest-paid player in the NFL, but an array of endorsements, business deals and investments have allowed him to grow a considerable fortune.

It has now been revealed that the Kansas City Chiefs star can charge a pretty penny on yet another revenue stream – Instagram posts.

Despite teammate Travis Kelce having the power of Taylor Swift’s Swifties behind him, Mahomes is able to charge more per post than any other player in the league.

It’s a tight battle and Kelce comes in at second, but Mahomes is the top earning, according to research from New York marketing startup Oppizi.

In fact, they estimate that there is only a single dollar between Mahomes and Kelce.

Quarterbacks make up half of the top 10 with two running backs and two wide receivers alongside tight end Kelce.

Mahomes, who has 6.7 million Insta followers, averages almost 180,000 likes every time he posts.

That means he can charge around $21,308 for a single Instagram post.

Kelce has the same number of followers but gets slightly fewer average likes (155k) which means he can charge approximately $21,307.

The two superstar teammates have a sizeable lead over the rest of the players in the top 10.

AFC North rivals Joe Burrow ($13,042 per post) and Lamar Jackson ($11,132) are the next two players in the top 10.

It then jumps again to the rest of the league, with Saquon Barkley ($8,904), Tyreek Hill ($8,586) and Christian McCaffrey ($8,275) a superstar trio of skill position players who can make decent money from Instagram.

Veteran QB Aaron Rodgers ($7,000) is only just ahead of Dak Prescott ($6,998), with rising stud receiver Justin Jefferson ($6,042) the tenth and final player on the list.

Oppizi analyzed the top 100 on the Instagram rich list and it’s bad news for defensive linemen, who earn the lowest amount per post by position group, on average.

Nick Bosa and Micah Parsons are just outside the top 20 but both rake in under $4,500 per post, with the overall average for the position sitting at $981.

There was more good news for Mahomes this week as he and wife Brittany welcomed a third child.

The couple put up a joint-Instagram post after new baby Golden Raye was born on January 12.

Kelce’s superstar partner Taylor Swift was one of thousands to like the post.

    Mahomes said: “Brittany crushed it.

“It’s been cool to welcome another baby girl to the family and see how my other kids reacted to her, and have a baby sister and stuff like that. So it’s been a lot of fun.

“And it was cool that football was on TV while I was in the hospital, so I was able to watch a little bit.

Asked if baby No 3 was easier than the first two, he added: “I don’t even want to say that because, like, Brittany’s doing everything.

“It was cool that we got the bye, just because you can kind of really focus in on just being at the hospital, being in the moment.

“It’s a special moment that a lot of dads and moms experience. And you don’t forget that stuff.”
