The National Weather Service office in San Diego is forecasting cooler temperatures and widespread rain beginning late Saturday afternoon and continuing into Monday.
“Cooler, wetter, and windier weather is expected through Tuesday,” the weather service said in its 9:15 a.m. forecast. “Areas of rain and mountain snow showers will develop later today, becoming more widespread Sunday afternoon into Monday.”
Rainfall of up to 1 inch is expected along the coast, with up to 1.5 inches in the mountains.
“Scattered showers are expected to develop later today and continue through the overnight hours,” the weather service said. “Showers tonight into Sunday morning are expected to be mostly light to moderate in intensity.”
The snow level in the San Diego County mountains could fall as low as 4,000 feet on Sunday night.
Highs on Saturday will be 62 to 67 along the coast, 63 to 66 in the western valleys,59 to 64 near the foothills, 52 to 59 in the mountains and 67 to 71 in the desert.
Dry and warmer weather is expected for the remainder of the work week, but another low-pressure system could bring rain next weekend.
