For sneakerheads out there, your shoes and where you get them matter. But if you’re someone who just needs a comfortable and reliable pair of sneakers, then spending the least amount that you can matters a bit more. Well, Aldi is dropping a pair of sneakers this week that are not only affordable and comfortable, but they are also pretty sleek and aesthetically-pleasing. Plus, they look like styles from New Balance, On and Skechers that are over seven times the price.
From Jan. 29 to Feb. 4, Aldi will be selling Crane Ladies Memory Foam Trainers for $14.99 in the Aldi Finds aisle of local U.S. stores (while quantities last). They’re low-profile sneakers with an outsole that gets thicker at the heel. Honestly, they kind of give off retro New Balance vibes (hence our comparison).

Crane Ladies Memory Foam Trainers, $14.99 at Aldi

They’re a sleeker version of those, with a more modern design (including gaps or holes on the side of the outsole). The top of the shoe is made with mesh and it has a tab in the back for pulling them on. And of course, like the name suggests, these trainers have memory foam insoles for added comfort.

They come in a men’s version, which is black, but the women’s version comes in white and beige. The white sneakers are all white (including the outsole) with beige laces and a black inside. The beige version are actually a light gray with a very light pink or peach color on the outsoles. They have black laces and a darker gray inside.

Fresh Foam X 880v14, $109.99 (originally $139.99) at New Balance

As we briefly mentioned, these Aldi shoes are similar to retro New Balance sneakers. Currently, the closest ones they come close to is the Fresh Foam X 880v14. They’re currently on sale for $109.99 (they were originally $139.99). They have a similar low-profile design, though they of course have the large “N” New Balance logo on the side.
The outsoles are different; the New Balance ones don’t have any aesthetically-placed holes. However, they’re made with Fresh Foam X midsoles, which is a similar insole to Aldi’s.
Cloudnova X, $160 at On

Another shoe that Aldi’s trainers look like is the Cloudnova X by On. These are currently $160 and have a very similar outsole (with those holes). They have a bit of a different silhouette, but the general vibe is very similar.

Skechers Slip-ins: Glide-Step Pro, $90 at Skechers

And lastly, Skechers’s Skechers Slip-ins: Glide-Step Pro shoes are comparable to the Aldi trainers. They’re currently $90 and have the closest design to Aldi’s out of any shoe mentioned here. They have an outsole with similar holes and have a similar overall silhouette. They also have a mesh top portion. The main difference is that these are part of Skechers’s Slip-Ins collection, meaning you can put these on hands-free, which is a cool concept.
So if you’re in the market for a comfortable pair of gym shoes or sneakers that are also very affordable, then Aldi’s Crane Ladies Memory Foam Trainers might just be right up your alley.
