Alex Pereira has taken to social media to issue a response to an interview with his sister which stunned fans.
The UFC light heavyweight champion’s younger sister Aline had spoken to MMA Fighting’s Guilherme Cruz this week.
She had given the interview ahead of her bout at Karate Combat 52 on Friday night.
In the interview, Aline revealed she is currently working as an Amazon driver alongside her combat sports career.
The 34-year-old has previously competed in kickboxing and has a 1-2 mixed martial arts record alongside her karate exploits.
Aline explained she hopes to be able to quit her delivery job to fight full-time in the future.
However, her comments sparked a backlash from fans, due to her brother’s status as a two-time UFC champion.
Pereira, who is also the promotion’s former middleweight champion, has received $300,000 (£240,000) from six performance bonuses across his 10 UFC bouts as well as his contracted fight earnings.
This prompted fans to ask why he was not supporting his sister enough financially for her to focus on fighting full-time.
Poatan has now responded on social media, though, as he called out Cruz for his interview tactics.
MMA Fighting had shared a quote from Aline to Instagram which read: “I do deliveries for Amazon, and we do what we have to do.
“This routine is very tiresome because we still have to accommodate the training hours and the job, but it all works out in the end…

Underneath the post, Pereira commented: “Bro you almost cut off the recording after my sister said she was working.
“If you had no evil you would have asked if I helped in any way, but you knew if you prolonged the conversation you know I wouldn’t have any good material for you!
“But for people who are trying to win in life it would be very important!
“I will do an interview talking about it, at the best time and I will talk about your attitude to the interviewees and especially to my sister.
“You don’t deserve to have this kind of work with this evil in creating discord and transmitting it to the good people.

Pereira’s outburst comes less than a year after UFC president Dana White took aim at Cruz in the build up to UFC 299.
The reporter claimed the bout between Dustin Poirier and Benoit Saint Denis for the event had never been booked after the fight reportedly fell off the card.
However, White fired back by directly calling Cruz out on Instagram, writing: “Hey Guilherme Cruz… Go f*** ur self scumbag.”
The bout would ultimately go ahead as scheduled, with Poirier winning via second round knockout.
As for Pereira, he is currently preparing for the fourth defence of his light heavyweight title.
The Brazilian faces Magomed Ankalaev in the main event at UFC 313 on March 8 in Las Vegas.
