Gervonta Davis finally speaks out on Naoya Inoue mega-fight in deleted post

Gervonta Davis believes he is the wanted man in boxing amid calls for him to fight Naoya Inoue.

Davis is one of the biggest superstars in boxing right now and his name is naturally thrust into a whole list of fantasy fights by the boxing world, who are keen for him to fight the best.

‘Tank’ currently campaigns at lightweight where there is a number of potential big-name rivals including Teofimo Lopez, Shakur Stevenson and Ryan Garcia whom he has already beaten once.

But one of the biggest names in the lower weight divisions is two-weight undisputed champion Inoue.

‘The Monster’ has never been beaten and is in the top three of the pound-for-pound rankings, currently holding the undisputed super-bantamweight titles.

Inoue is running out of challengers that he hasn’t blitzed at the weight, which has seen for calls for him to pile on the pounds and move to featherweight or even to lightweight.

But naturally despite the physical limits, given his punching power, fans have proposed a potential fight between Davis and Inoue.

The pair both carry dynamite in their hands and have never been beaten, while their commercial power could generate huge global audience interest.

Inoue today defeated Ye Joon Kim with another stunning KO on home soil, generating more buzz around the generational talent’s profile.

And a fan tried to beckon Davis once again to entertain fight talks on social media.

Davis has now finally responded in a later deleted tweet, which read: “I’m the only fighter you all want to see in with everybody.

“It doesn’t matter, like what the f**k.”

In truth it would be a very ambitious ask for the pair to meet, given Inoue would need to climb up three weight classes and pile on 13lbs.

Davis has fought at both featherweight and super-featherweight in his career, but it is unclear if he would be willing to boil down to secure the fight.

Despite it being nothing more than a fever dream right now, should the pair meet, it would be one of the most intriguing propositions in the sport right now.

Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh has suggested the match-up would one of his dream fights to make in the sport if possible.

Davis doesn’t currently hold a working relationship with the matchmaker, but could be lured in by the prospect of huge paydays down the line.

Inoue himself wants to crack the US market in 2025 and intends to fight in Las Vegas this year before a potential move to the Middle East.

It would be a huge ask for Inoue to step up in weight to face DavisGetty

He said after his recent win: “Yes, 2025 will be a big year for me to go to overseas countries to have a fight.

“In [the] spring of 2025 I will be going to Las Vegas to show you the great match.

“I am planning to have fights in Las Vegas and Saudi Arabia this year. I don’t know how complete I am as a boxer.

“I want to keep training so that I can keep improving until the end of my career.”
