RUSSELL WILSON has revealed where his future might lie after a tough end to the season.
The veteran quarterback is a free agent after he signed a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers last summer.
Although he started the season as Justin Fields’ backup, Wilson won the starting job early in the season and lead the team to the playoffs.
Five consecutive defeats – including in the wild card round – lead to speculation that Wilson would be out.
There was also rumors that long-serving head coach Mike Tomlin could leave or might be traded.
However, Tomlin appears to now be staying – and so does Wilson.
During an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Wilson revealed that contract talks have now started.
He said: “Yes, we have been starting to talk a little bit.
“We’ve had our meetings and everything else, just getting into it.
“So I think that it’s an exciting time to be a Pittsburgh Steeler and the opportunity of what we can do.”
Wilson, 36, looked much like his old self during a stretch from Week 7 to 14, but then struggled to create offense during the losing streak.
It remains to be seen if Wilson will come back as a veteran presence on the sideline or if the Steelers plan to start him.
The Steelers have the 21st pick in the draft and could take a QB – although Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders and Jalen Milroe are all expected to be off the board.
“This year was an exciting year in a lot of ways.It was tough at the end.
“We didn’t get it done, but I’ve got so much more in me, man.”
There is no word on if Fields – who was benched despite a 4-2 winning record – will be back with the team next year.
Head coach Tomlin, who has not had a losing season and only missed the playoffs six times in his 18 years, came in for huge criticism with many calling for him to be fired.
Jim Rooney, brother of Steelers owner Art, refused to lay the blame at the feet of the coach.

Appearing on the Ross Tucker podcast, he sad: “I think it’s an organization issue, not just Mike.
“I think all of us are responsible for the outcomes, but I think we take responsibility.
“I don’t want to get into excuse making, but the reality is we outperform the NFL mean at a greater rate than just about any team for the last 25 years.”
Rooney added: “I think if this was a boxing match and you were judging the competition, not just looking at the winning percentage, you would say that we have performed in a harder circumstance than most and outperformed them.
“Having said that, I understand no one wants to lose playoff games. The goal is to win the Super Bowl, and you have to get to there.
“You have to get to playoff games, which we do well, and you have to win playoff games, which we haven’t.”
