A MAN has been charged with the murder of an “amazing” grandmother who was allegedly “trying to stop daughter being knifed”.
Dianne Cleary, 46, was taken to hospital following a knife rampage at a property in Turners Road North, Luton, on Monday.
She later died of her injuries and an investigation was launched by the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit.
Her daughter Caitlin, in her 20s, was also said to have suffered serious injuries in the frenzied attack.
Jacob Clark, 25, from Luton, was arrested on Wednesday and was charged with murder earlier today.
He has been remanded into custody ahead of a court hearing at Luton Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
Detective Inspector Adam Bridges, leading the investigation, said: “We can confirm the sad news that Diane Cleary sadly lost her life following this incident, and we have specially-trained officers supporting her loved ones.
“Our thoughts are with them.
“We continue to work around the clock on this case and are still appealing for anyone with information to contact police quoting Operation Wroxham.
“We recognise the impact this has had not only on Diane’s relatives and friends but also the wider community, and thank them for their support and patience as we conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Diane’s death.”
