A brush fire climbing a hillside west of the 163 freeway near the 8 has prompted evacuation alerts as it threatens structures.
The fire, which is near Friars Rd. and Avenida de las Tiendas, has forced a closure of a portion of Friars Rd. and is threatening structures.
The fire is reportedly approaching two acres with a moderate rate of spread and heavy smoke. Fire crews are on the scene.
