SEC stadiums might be unaccustomed to snow, but they have been treated (or mistreated, depending on your preference) to winter weather recently.
Just over a week ago, Georgia‘s Sanford Stadium was blanketed in heavy snow and ice as a winter storm rolled through the Southeast. On Tuesday, the region is bracing for more widespread wintery weather, including locations that rarely see snow.
Throughout Tuesday morning, various SEC programs have confirmed the arrival of the winter weather, including LSU, Texas and Texas A&M. Even Baton Rouge’s Tiger Stadium is under a nice blanket of snow, and the sights around the Southeast are something to behold!

— Texas Football (@TexasFootball) January 21, 2025According to the AP, this particular storm is an especially rare storm hitting the northern Gulf Coast region and ranging from Texas through New Orleans. The area is more accustomed to dealing with the torrential rain and force winds of a hurricane, but heavy snow, sleet and freezing rain are expected across the Deep South.
The storms have also made a mess of Atlatna’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Over 200 flights have been either canceled or delayed, and, combined with the influx of college football fans looking to return home, the airport is experiencing a bit of chaos and longer-than-expected security lines throughout Tuesday.
