Samsung Electronics is kicking off the year with its first Galaxy Unpacked event of 2025 with a big reveal on some of its upcoming technology.
The South Korean firm has promised an exclusive look at the latest devices in the Samsung Galaxy and Galaxy AI family.
Like the last Unpacked event in July 2024 when the company unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Ring and Galaxy Watch Ultra, this event is also set to contain “exciting product reveals”, according to Samsung.
Here’s how to keep on top of all the tech news and the latest Samsung speculation.
Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked 2025 will take place on Wednesday 22 January at 6pm (GMT).
The event is being held in San Jose, California in the USA and is only open to invited media and partner personnel.
However, those who want to keep up-to-date with all the latest announcements can still watch it live.

Techradar expects this week’s event to be “phone-focused” with a big reveal on the Samsung Galaxy S25 range, leading with by the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.
The online technology publication wrote: “While these phones are expected to be iterative upgrades over the Galaxy S24 lineup, their big party tricks could be a suite of new and improved features on the Galaxy AI side; a new powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset should help power these tools.”
It predicts new AI features for the Galaxy S25 series including upgrades and possibly an improved Generative Edit.
And according to leaked specs, it said it looks like there could be 12GB or RAM for the standard S25.

The online tech guide stated: “I think Samsung is going to show off some new phones with a bunch of AI capabilities this week.”
Galaxy AI is expected to be a big part of this event.
Tom’s Guide said reports had surfaced claiming the big focus would be that the Galaxy AI update would centre around Bixby, Samsung’s virtual assistant.
The firm is said to be planning to use AI to make its digital assistant smarter and more context aware, giving Bixby the power to follow complex commands based on information on your phone’s screen.
It also said there were rumours the new phones would offer integration with Google’s Gemini AI model and claims S25 buyers will get free access to Gemini Advanced.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to get a higher-resolution sensor for its ultrawide lens and a variable aperture rate for the telephoto lens.
The guide believes the biggest hardware change is likely to be the addition of the Snapdragon 8 Elite system-on-chip, which is designed to deliver faster performance without sacrificing battery life.
Prices are also, it reported, probably going to go up for the new mobiles.
“Part of that can be attributed to higher component costs — the Snapdragon 8 Elite is said to be a pretty pricey bit of silicon — while political unrest in Samsung’s home market of South Korea may contribute to increases as well”, it stated.
And there may also be one other product unveiled at the event, a “surprise” product such as a new mixed reality headset based on the Android XR platform.
Gizmodo said the event will “introduce the Galaxy S25 in two sizes and the Galaxy S25 Ultra, a third phone considered the ultimate Samsung-flavored smartphone because of its bells and whistles.”
According to leaks online, the tech website said Samsung will be sticking to the same display sizes as before with the Galaxy S25 having a 6.2-inch screen, the Galaxy S25+ just a bit bigger at 6.7 inches and the Galaxy S25 Ultra is set to have a 6.8-inch display.
It said the Galaxy S25’s chip will “undoubtedly be powerful”.
Gizmodo expects AI to take up a large part of the event, it stated: “There may be an AI companion that Samsung trots out at this month’s Unpacked that differentiates itself from Google’s AI efforts.
“The most significant feature seems to be a daily brief that collects data from your Samsung apps and offers colorful data summaries.”
And like Tom’s Guide, Gizmodo believes there will be an announcement about XR glasses.
“With this early Unpacked event, Samsung might try to beat Meta to the smart glasses hype”, it stated, “The company has been spotted working with Google and Qualcomm on a prototype for a pair of smart glasses.”
