DENVER (KDVR) -- Denver has been below freezing for almost 70 hours as of Monday morning, but some of the coldest weather is yet to come.
Usually, the average high temperature in Denver stays in the 40s throughout January, however, there have been particularly chilly cold snaps at least once during the winter season.
Last year, a cold snap came in mid-January when temperatures stayed in the single digits for several days. This year in mid-January, an arctic blast swept into the U.S. and left the country with freezing temperatures.
Colorado hit by over a foot of snow this weekend. These areas have the mostIn Colorado, those temperatures dipped below freezing overnight Friday and have lasted throughout the weekend. At points, part of the state saw temperatures as low as minus 34 degrees.
While Tuesday marks the last of the five Pinpoint Weather Alert Days, which were issued from Friday through Tuesday due to the longest hard freeze of the season and the incoming snow, there are still freezing temperatures ahead before the city warms up.
When will Denver break freezing?
On Monday, the Pinpoint Weather team expects Denver to stay in the single digits, even at the warmest parts of the day. The high on Monday will be 8 degrees, while the overnight low is expected to reach minus 11 degrees.
Other parts of Colorado won't be warmer, either.
Cold weather advisories and extreme cold warnings are in effect through Monday and into Tuesday morning and wind chill values could be as low as minus 50 degrees, according to the Pinpoint Weather team.
Despite Monday being the coldest day in over a year, the Pinpoint Weather team expects the temperatures to rise above 32 degrees by Tuesday afternoon.

Temperatures should reach 40 degrees by Tuesday and highs will stay above freezing all week, with an almost 50-degree day on Friday.
