This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Krista Caraway.
Caraway is the director of member outreach and events for the nonprofit, B3 Coffee. B3 provides social and vocational opportunities for people with disabilities. While B3 has always organized their own events for their members, Caraway has taken it a step further by connecting B3 with the larger community by facilitating their members’ participation in events that are already happening. This makes people with disabilities more visible and more connected in Chapel Hill-Carrboro. Caraway also launched B3’s Navigating Our Community program, which helps B3’s members learn how to navigate public transit systems, practice community safety, and discover inclusive community venues.
