SATURDAY night’s chaotic NFC Divisional Round matchup proved a big hit with viewers.
The Washington Commanders’ showdown with the Detroit Lions racked up impressive numbers for Fox.
Washington stunned the No. 1 NFC seed in a high-scoring contest at Ford Field.
Despite going into the game as big underdogs, the Commanders won out 45-31.
It was a day to forget for the Lions defense, which fell apart when it mattered most after an impressive 15-2 regular season.
They gave up 28 points in a chaotic second quarter and allowed five total touchdowns.
Fox broadcast the playoff showdown and reported “33.6 million tuned in across Fox, Fox Deportes and Fox streaming platforms.”
“[Ratings peaked] with 35,692,000 viewers from 9.30pm to 9.45pm ET,” the network wrote on X.
That peak coincided with the outrageous second quarter, which saw both teams trade big plays.
The combined 42 points made it the highest-scoring quarter in NFL postseason history.
“[Sunday’s game was the ] fourth-most watched Saturday NFC Divisional Game in Fox history,” noted the network.
Despite the positive outlook, overall numbers are down from Fox’s Divisional Round matchup a year ago.
On that occasion, the San Francisco 49ers defeated the Green Bay Packers.
It follows a similar trend seen on NFL Wildcard Weekend, where ratings were down across the board.
Coverage of the postseason is split across Fox, CBS, NBC and Amazon Prime.
