Marcus Spears and Scott Van Pelt are on hand as part of ESPN’s crew on-site at Arrowhead Stadium as the Kansas City Chiefs host the Houston Texans in an AFC Divisional Round matchup.
Spears, a Baton Rouge native and LSU legend, grew up in a place that wasn’t as accustomed to freezing cold temperatures as other areas of the country. That explains his reaction below right at the start of ESPN’s pregame programming:

— Awful Announcing (@awfulannouncing) January 18, 2025For the record, the temperature in Kansas City at kickoff was forecast to be 22 degrees. That’s not taking into account the wind, which makes it feel like 8 degrees. In fact, it seems like most of the U.S. is cold thanks to a freeze that is making its way through the country.
Shoutout to Spears, who played his professional career for the Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens, for ultimately sticking it out and getting through it.
As for the game itself, the Chiefs are the favorite as they hope to make a third straight AFC Championship Game as they attempt to become the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowls.
The Texans have other ideas, as a win for C.J. Stroud and his team would claim the franchise’s first-ever conference championship game appearance.
