Jason Kelce revealed an unusual story about brother Travis on Saturday.
The former Philadelphia Eagles center is working on ESPN’s Postseason NFL Countdown alongside Scott Van Pelt, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Spears ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs divisional round playoff clash with the Houston Texans at Arrowhead Stadium.
As brother/Chiefs tight end Travis warmed behind him, Jason could be seen sporting a huge, thick coat and hat in the chilly Kansas City air.
And Van Pelt couldn’t help but poke fun at Jason over his outfit compared to Kelce wearing shorts and a t-shirt.
“So it’s the story of two brothers. They grew up in the same house. One of them is out here dressed up like Yukon Cornelius, the other is out here in shorts,” Van Pelt said.
“Was Travis always the kid in the neighborhood that was crazy out there in shorts?
Kelce revealed Travis used to tell people his name was Charles, as an honor to NBA player Charles BarkleyX@newheightshow It’s been a down year for Kelce statistically but his Chiefs are still rollingGetty“He was the crazy guy,” Jason replied. “I think we both were pretty reckless whenever the snow was falling in Cleveland.
“He also told the entire block that his name was Charles because his favorite basketball player was Charles Barkley. We found out at a block party because all the other parents were like, ‘there goes Charles,’ Jason recalled.
“That’s the kind of kid Travis was. He was always living up to all his sports idols for sure.”
For the minutes to follow, the entire Countdown crew kept referring to Travis as Charles.
Barkley was the 1993 NBA MVP and one of the greatest players in basketball history.
He was an 11-time All-Star and member of the iconic Team USA ‘Dream Team’ who captured a gold medal at the 1992 Olympics.
These days, the ‘Round Mound of Rebound’ is an analyst and fan favorite on sports studio show, Inside the NBA.

The closest he ever came was the 1993 NBA Finals when his Phoenix Suns were beaten 4-2 by Michael Jordan‘s Chicago Bulls.
Meanwhile Jason, who is now retired yet recognized as one of the greatest offensive lineman ever, won Super Bowl LII with the Philadelphia Eagles.
His younger brother Travis is gunning for a Super Bowl three-peat this season after going back-to-back in 2023 and 2024.
Overall, it’s been a down year for the Chiefs tight end, who has tallied 97 receptions, four more than last year, but seen career-low yards (823) and touchdowns (3).
Nevertheless, his Chiefs still secured the AFC’s No. 1 seed with a 15-2 regular season record.
They take on the Texans in Saturday’s divisional round knowing that three more wins will give them an unprecedented third Super Bowl title in a row.
