LOS Angeles Rams tight end Tyler Higbee had to be sent to the hospital after suffering an injury that caused him to spit up blood during the team’s 27-9 playoff win over the Minnesota Vikings.
An update has been revealed on the 32-year-old Higbee as the Rams prepare to face the Philadelphia Eagles in the Divisional Round this weekend.
Higbee exited Monday night’s win with a chest injury, but the situation took a turn.
On Tuesday, Rams head coach Sean McVay revealed that Higbee was hospitalized after “coughing up a little bit of blood.”
McVay added that Higbee was able to travel home to Los Angeles from the neutral-site game that had been moved due to the ongoing Southern California wildfires.
McVay labeled Higbee as being in “stable” condition and he expects the nine-year NFL veteran to play in the upcoming playoff game.
The coach described the 32-year-old as being in “stable” condition after the first-round triumph.
“It was something with his chest,” McVay said Monday night. “I think he’s going to be okay.”
Higbee had a stellar start to Monday’s playoff outing, recording five receptions for 58 yards – all in the first quarter.
He exited the game and was later listed as doubtful to return after the second quarter before being downgraded to out at the beginning of the third quarter.
Higbee played just 12 snaps as the Rams dominated the Vikings from start to finish, sacking Sam Darnold nine times.
Monday’s game was just the fourth game of the season for Higbee as he recovered from a torn MCL And ACL injury in last year’s playoffs.
He appeared in three regular-season contests and posted eight receptions for 66 yards and two touchdowns.
It will be a quick turnaround for the Rams to prepare for their next matchup against the Eagles on Sunday in Philadelphia.
Fortunately, it seems that Higbee will be able to play in the contest.
If he’s unable to appear in the game, the Rams would turn to Cody Parkinson, Hunter Long, and Davis Allen at tight end.
