A man is in the Weld County Jail in connection with a suspicious death of a man found at an Evans motel last week.

(Courtesy/Evans Police Department)Police arrested 53-year-old James Ochoa Thursday afternoon on suspicion of second-degree murder, according to a Facebook post from the Evans police department. The arrest came after the victim was found dead at the America’s Best Value Inn, 800 31st Street in Evans recently.
On Jan. 7, Evans police began investigating a death — which was determined to be a homicide due to the traumatic injuries the victim suffered.
During the investigation, police identified Ochoa as a person of interest and secured a warrant for his arrest Thursday morning. That afternoon, Evans police took him into custody in Fort Collins with the help of Fort Collins Police Services.
Police say the case is still under investigation and they will not yet release any further information.
