NFL makes final punishment decision on Drake London after Atlanta Falcons receiver was cited for ‘taunting’ penalty

THE NFL have made a final call on Drake London’s taunting penalty in Week 18.

The Atlanta Falcons played out a thriller against the Carolina Panthers in what was one of the games of the season.

Drake London has been hit with a fine after a taunting penalty in Week 18 London had 10 catches, 187 yards and two touchdowns – but the Falcons still lost to the Carolina Panthers and missed the playoffs

The Panthers eventually took the W after overtime, with the game ending 44-38.

London, 23, ended a breakout season with an incredible performance.

The former first round pick hauled in 10 catches for 187 yards – a season high – and two touchdowns.

He ended the season with 100 receptions, 1,271 yards and nine touchdowns.

Unfortunately it was not enough to secure a playoff place as the final game defeat ruled them out of the postseason.

And London now has a tab to clear with the league after picking up a taunting penalty in the defeat.

But fans were left shock at a “soft” and “weak” call.

London caught a TD pass just before halftime to give Atlanta a 24-17 lead.

He then got up and stood over Panthers cornerback Shermar Bartholomew.

He was immediately flagged by officials and the NFL has now confirmed that he will be fined $11,255.

Fans were outraged with the decision on social media.

One wrote: “So he got fined for scoring a touchdown? Got it.”

Another added: “NFL has had a personal issue with Drake London and his celebrations all season and it’s obvious smh.

“They’re completely fine with defenses running across the field all the time after a damn turnover, though smh.”

Another said: “What a weak move from the NFL.”

A final one couldn’t believe the amount: “$11K for looking at someone is crazy. How did they come up with the 255 part. Such a random amount.”

London was previously fined for one of his TD celebrations – in Week 2 he pretended to fire a gun and was hit with a $14,069 fine.

He did regret it, however, and said: “There’s a lot of stuff going around in the world with gun violence that I don’t think I should have displayed there,

“So, I’m not too happy with it, and [you] probably won’t see that again from me.”

London wasn’t the only Falcon to be fined in the game.

Running back Bijan Robinson was also hit with an unnecessary roughness penalty in the fourth quarter – he will have to pay a $22,511 fine.
