Humvees, bayonets taken in break-in at Army Reserve Center in Tustin

Three Humvees, more than a dozen bayonets and other items were taken from a storage warehouse and parking lot at the Army Reserve Center in Tustin this week, and the thieves remain at large, police announced Friday.

According to a Tustin police statement, an unspecified number of suspects entered the storage warehouse on Wednesday night between 8 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.

    “Multiple storage lockers were discovered with locks removed and missing gear. An attempt was made to cut a lock to uniform storage, however was unsuccessful. A lock was cut to gain access to a military vehicle parking lot where three Humvees were stolen.”

    The three missing Humvees — one of them armored — have “admin numbers” painted on the hood.

    Also missing are:

    — eight machine gun vehicle mounts;

    — seven free-standing machine gun tripods;

    — unspecified medical equipment;

    — 40 pairs of binoculars; and

    — 18 bayonets.

    Anyone with information regarding the case was asked to contact Detective Schaller at 714-573-3245.
